Rev. Dr. Eugene "Gene" Grimm

A little about Gene...

Gene has been a minister for over 55 years.  During those years he was a parish pastor for nearly 21 years.  Then, called by the national church body, he became a consultant for stewardship ministry for nearly the next 21 years.  Since retirement, he serves on the Living and Giving Stewardship Team of the North American Lutheran Church.  For the past year, he has served as one of the pastors of Mountain Reformed Church in Prescott Valley, AZ.

Gene began shooting when he was only about 8 years old. At nine, he fired his first handgun, his grandfather's H&R model 99, which he still has to this day.  He started hunting with his dad and uncles when he was 12.   He has been involved in IDPA, IPSC, and Cowboy Action Shooting.  He is an NRA certified pistol instructor.

Lt. Grimm has been an Arizona Ranger for over 11 years, and was elected a lifetime Ranger in 2021.  He has served as company chaplain since immediately after his probationary period and being sworn a full Ranger.  He also served as Internal Affairs Officer for five years.

Now retired from full-time ministry, he decided it was time to begin gunsmithing in earnest.  In 2020 he and Dave began High Chaparral Gunsmithing LLC.  Our shop is in his home at 933 Lupine Lane, Prescott, AZ 86305.

Dave Grimm

When he was 15 he started taking guns apart, repairing them and finding ways to improve function.  This led to attending Trinidad State Junior College gunsmith program and training under some of the finest instructors in the business.  After that, he apprenticed with a master engraver for 2 years providing gunsmith services to a custom shop.  Over the years, Dave continued to dabble in the industry, building guns for friends and family and shooting IPSC, IDPA, competitions.

From 2015 through 2017 Dave was the team leader of the Brownells chat room where he built a team of 12 top industry experts providing live support to Brownells clients.  As senior gunsmith for High Chaparral, Dave is responsible for more challenging services and custom jobs such as parts manufacturing, and troubleshooting difficult repairs.

Dave earned his black belt in 2018, enjoys sunrise walks with his dog Remington and sunset walks with his wife Jackie and is currently studying CAD.  He also runs High Chaparral Creatives, a concept and development wood and metal fabrication shop.

Family business -  where dad followed in his sons shoes lol!
